Blur to receive Outstanding Contribution award at the BRITs

Blur have been named as the lucky recipients of 2012's Outstanding Contribution BRIT Award. 

The 'Parklife' superstars are set to receive the coveted Outstanding Contribution to Music title at next year's ceremony, which has been previously awarded to iconic acts such as Sir Paul McCartney, Oasis and U2. 

Damon Albarn, the band's frontman, explained that it's such an honour to be recognised by one of the country's most prestigious ceremonies:

"It's great to have recognition for all the work and all the heartache and all the joy that's gone into this band."

The Brit Awards 2012 will take place on February 21 at London's O2 Arena and you can watch a recent interview with Albarn below:
