Michael Jackson's personal belongings fetch nearly $1m at auction

The contents from one of Michael Jackson's homes have been sold at auction for almost $1m.

The Press Association reports that the sale, run by Julien's Auctions, nearly tripled the auctioneer's estimated total sales of $200,000-$400,000.

Items in the auction were from his mansion at 100 North Carolwood Drive, Los Angeles and included a chalkboard on which Jackson's children had written 'I love daddy' and a rug from his bedroom.

It is in this house that Jackson spent his last days as he prepared for his run of live shows in London. As previously reported, the bedroom of the house was known as the 'medication room' during the trial of Dr Conrad Murray.

The rug from underneath the bed where Jackson died sold for $15,360 - a somewhat large jump from the estimate of $400-$600.
