The Military Wives' single outselling Little Mix's 'Cannonball' 6-1

The Military Wives' single is shifting copies at an incredible rate and is currently on course to become the UK's Christmas No.1 for 2011.

According to the Official Charts Company, their festive offering 'Wherever You Are' sold over 242,000 copies on Sunday and Monday alone beating Little Mix's entire first week sales of their winners' single 'Cannonball'.

Although Little Mix are thought to be The Military Wives' biggest competition for the coveted Christmas top spot, it looks as though there will be no struggle as it is outselling the X Factor girls' track 6-1. Proceeds from sales of 'Wherever You Are' will go straight to The Royal British Legion and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen Families Association.

The song was recorded by a group of women, whose husbands and partners are currently in Afghanistan, as part of a BBC2 programme with Gareth Malone called The Choir.

Music Week have reported that the last single to sell as many copies in its first two days of release was Shayne Ward's 'That's My Goal' back in 2005.
