Oxegen Festival 2012 cancelled

Ireland's Oxegen festival will be taking a break in 2012, its promoters have confirmed.

MCD, the people behind the huge summer music event, have revealed that Oxegen will return in 2013 and will not be going ahead next year: "Oxegen like Glastonbury is taking a year off in 2012 and will be back July 2013. Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas & peaceful New Year. Keep rockin' in 2012 and we will see you in 2013."

The festival was incredibly popular this year and saw headlining sets from the likes of Coldplay, Foo Fighters and The Black Eyed Peas.

Luckily 2012 will still be great for outdoor events as the Isle of Wight Festival has already added Tinie Tempah, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds to the bill.
