Military Wives bag the midweek No.1 single with 'Wherever You Are'

The Military Wives have bagged the midweek No.1 with their festive charitable offering, 'Wherever You Are'.

The single has knocked Little Mix's 'Cannonball', which is currently at No.2, off the top spot and proceeds from sales of the song will be donated to The Royal British Legion and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen Families Association.

Martin Talbot, the Official Charts Company's managing director, explained that the special track is breaking a lot of records and sold over 319,000 copies between Sunday and Tuesday:

"This truly is an extraordinary result for Gareth and his choir – easily now the fastest selling record for years. They are extending their lead day-by-day and breaking records as they go.”

There are 3 other new entries in the Top 10 this afternoon from Lou Monte at No.3 with 'Dominick The Donkey', Alex Day's 'Forever Yours' at No.4 and this year's anti-Christmas hopeful, Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', which is at No.6.

Stacey Solomon's 'Driving Home For Christmas' has made an appearance at No.18 and The Cast of The Only Way Is Essex have entered the chart at No.22.
