Adele claims highest annual sales figure since 2004

Adele is going out of 2011 with a bang after it was revealed that she has set the highest sales figure for 7 years.

The sensational vocalist has enjoyed incredible success with her sophomore album '21' and it has now been confirmed that it is the album that boasts the highest annual sales since R&B heartthrob Usher's 'Confessions' back in 2004.

She unveiled the record back in January and it has already shifted over 5.28 million copies in the U.S. alone. She can now proudly add this new feat of having sold more copies of her album in 12 months than any artist since the 'DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love' star 7 years ago.

In addition to this impressive accomplishment, Adele has also been nominated for no less than 6 Grammys and was recently named one of the Top Ten Britons of 2011 by newspaper The Telegraph.
