Adele crowned queen of 2011 U.S. charts

Grammy award-winning songstress Adele has been crowned queen of the U.S. charts as it was revealed yesterday, January 4, that she has the United States' top-selling album and song of 2011.

Nielsen SoundScan explained that the 'Set Fire To The Rain' superstar's sophomore album '21' shifted a phenomenal 5.82 million copies in America while her smash-hit single 'Rolling In The Deep' did just as well with 5.81 million units sold, putting her above every other artist and their respective sales figures for last year in America.

The past 12 months were incredibly successful for Adele as she also had the most-played track on Spotify, again with 'Rolling In The Deep', and her album '21' now boasts the highest annual sales since Usher's 'Confessions' in 2004

The second highest-selling album in America last year was Michael Bublé's 'Christmas' and the No.2 most popular single was LMFAO's floor-filler 'Party Rock Anthem'.
