Glee won't snag Sir Elton due to clashing schedules

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Sir Elton John won't appear on the show as one of lead character Rachel Berry's gay dads.

The 'Your Song' superstar has previously expressed his love for the musical drama series and said that he would love a starring role if the opportunity arose: "I haven't been asked to go on Glee but I love the show, it's such a positive show and I enjoyed doing the Matthew Morrison duet very much."

Murphy has also spoken out in the past about how great it would be to get Sir Elton involved, but the timing hasn't been right this time around as the icon's tour schedule clashes with filming and Murphy told TV Guide:

"I'm currently meeting and talking to (actors). So many people are interested in playing them, but (Elton) is, unfortunately, touring."
