An emotional Katherine Jenkins was consoled by her conductor on stage in Oxford as she performed for the first time on tour since announcing her split with partner Gethin Jones.

The couple announced their separation over the festive period, with Jenkins scheduled for a UK tour in January and February.

As she took to the stage in Oxford on the first show of the tour on Saturday (January 7) however, Jenkins appeared to be overcome by emotion - with conductor Anthony Inglis giving a helping hand, and a hankie. Inglis tweeted after the event:

"What an emotional evening. So wonderful to see the strength of @kathjenkins. Glad I could come to the aid with a hankie. Needed one myself."
