Nicola Roberts has expressed her wish to play a role in hit TV show Downton Abbey.

The singer is a self-confessed fan of the programme and told the Daily Star that she would love to appear in it - even just for one show. She said:

"I would love to be in it even if it was just for one episode. It's so amazing, I actually feel like it's real life. My friends all think I'm really weird."

Roberts also took to Twitter on Tuesday (January 10) to laud the show. She said:

"I am OBSESSED with Downtown Abbey! Finished both series in 2 days! I wish Matthew would love Mary like she loves him.."

It's not the first time the Girls Aloud singer has expressed a desire to enter acting - Roberts had previously put herself forward for a role in soap EastEnders.
