LL Cool J to host 2012 Grammy Awards

LL Cool J has been named as the host of this year's Grammy Awards.

In a statement released via the official Grammys website, the rapper and actor said that he is "thrilled" to host the awards, which are due to take place on February 12.

LL Cool J has previously tasted gold twice at the ceremony - winning Best Rap Solo Performance back in 1992 and then again in 1997 for the track 'Hey Lover'.

His confirmation as the event's ringleader will be the first time in seven years that the awards will have an official host. Speaking about the appointment, LL Cool J said:

"I'm thrilled to be part of Music's Biggest Night. I will always have fond memories of my first GRAMMY Awards and to now be hosting the GRAMMY show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true. Great performances and great music - it's gonna be a great night!"

As previously reported, Rihanna announced via Twitter that she will be sharing the stage with Coldplay at the event for a blockbuster collaboration.
