Robin Gibb dismisses reports that he is at "death's door"

Robin Gibb has moved to deny reports that he is at "death's door" as he undergoes chemotherapy.

Speaking in the Daily Mail, the Bee Gee spoke about his illness with encouragement and said that his chemotherapy results have been "spectacular".

Gibb was using the article to talk about his interest in the Titanic disaster and touched on his own brush with transport disaster, the fatal Hither Green rail crash in 1967, which Gibb survived.

Speaking about those who were on the Titanic, Gibb said:

"I've experienced some of what they experienced and there is some level of empathy. I have seen the terrible fragility of human life. I have felt this more sharply than ever in recent months which, as I've said, have been a testing time. I've had a scare. But now I'm happy to say I'm nearly better."

"For more than 18 months, I had lived with an inflammation of the colon; then I was diagnosed with colon cancer, which spread to the liver. I have undergone chemotherapy, however, and the results – to quote my doctor – have been 'spectacular'. It's taken a toll, naturally, but the strange thing is that I've never felt seriously ill. I've mostly felt great. There have been many false claims around, which I'd like to dispel. I am not and have never been 'at death's door'."
