Peter Andre to 'speak at Oxford Union'

Peter Andre has been lined up to speak at the Oxford Union, it has been reported.

The Sun reports that the singer is due to speak on Tuesday (January 31) at what is called the "world's most famous debating society".

Ex-wife Katie Price also spoke at the Union in October last year. Talking about Andre's appointment, spokesman Mark Greaves said:

"He's got a lot of experience in the media and we think he would be really interesting speaker for our members. We had Katie Price here last year and it was really successful and had a positive response. We want inspirational figures from the celebrity world who can offer an insight into their career."

Greaves also moved to bat away claims that the Oxford Union is "dumbing down". He added:

"We are definitely not dumbing down, we are just trying to reflect the 21st century and will keep inviting important people. Celebrity culture is here to stay."
