Emeli Sandé may be one of the hottest songwriters around at the moment, but she has revealed that the first song she ever wrote was about aliens.

Sandé has penned tracks for a host of pop talent and is set to hit the big time time as a solo artist too after she releases her debut album in February.

However, she told the Daily Star that the first song she ever wrote was about an alien who visited Earth in search of love - a track penned when she was a kid.

And the song was even stolen by friends who performed it at a talent show. She said:

"When I was seven or eight I wrote my first song and it was about an alien coming to Earth looking for love. It wasn't very good. My friends formed a girl group for a talent show and they nicked my song. I was in the audience so that was my first lesson in copyrighting. The crowd seemed to like it and the band had a dance routine and everything. I thought if it was good enough to steal, I must be quite good at it. It was flattering, I suppose, and we're all still friends now."
