American Idol superstar Kelly Clarkson was given the honour of performing the American national anthem at last night's Super Bowl (February 5) and she didn't disappoint. 

Dressed in a sleek black dress, Clarkson belted out an impressive rendition of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' and took to social networking site Twitter afterwards to share the experience with her followers:

"Guess what ....I've never been more nervous in my life than singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl tonight ....wow that was almost not fun I was so nervous! Fun night overall though! Thank you everybody for all of the nice things you're saying about my performance! I really appreciate it :)"

She was also sent a public message by 'Raise Your Glass' singer P!nk, who congratulated her on doing such a fantastic job:

"Kelly Clarkson KiLleD the national anthem. Show em' how it's done girl!!!!”

Clarkson was so overwhelmed by the praise that she retweeted the message and added, "Um ....this just made my year....& it's only February :)." Watch her stunning Super Bowl performance in full here:
