Sir Paul McCartney ditches cannabis for fatherhood

Sir Paul McCartney has admitted that he has stopped smoking cannabis.

The Beatle told Rolling Stone that he's called time on the habit because of bringing up his eight-year-old daughter Beatrice has altered his priorities in life.

McCartney has something of a history with the drug, sporting a number of arrests due to possession, whilst the veteran musician was also once deported from Japan after authorities found the drug in his bags.

But now it seems like he has put all that behind him as he looks to the future. He said:

"I did a lot, and it was enough. I smoked my share. When you're bringing up a youngster, your sense of responsibility does kick in, if you're lucky, at some point. Enough's enough - you just don't seem to think it's necessary."
