Sir Elton John picks unknown Scottish teen as support act

Sir Elton John has invited an unknown 13-year-old girl to open for him at his only Scottish show this year.

The legendary singer-songwriter called teenager Tallia Storm to offer her the gig after she handed a demo to his partner David Furnish whilst on holiday with her family in Hawaii last month.

Tallia told the Daily Record that she was stunned when she received the call from the ‘Rocket Man’ star: "I was at airport security and my phone rang but the reception was really bad. I answered and this man said, 'Hello, this is Sir Elton John.' I was like, 'Sorry, who?', then the security guy told me to switch off my phone.

"When we eventually arrived back in London, he called again to let me know his whole band had listened to my songs. He said they all loved them and asked me if I'd like to join him as his support.”

The young singer from Killearn, Stirling described the conversation as the most surreal of her life, adding: "I really didn't know what to say at first but he was so excited about my music and said he thought my signature was incredible.

"He was just so nice, warm and totally down to earth. We spoke a few times and then he called my mum that night to explain what he had in mind. I don't actually think I will take it all in until I am standing on his stage at Falkirk - someone will have to pinch me for sure."

Tallia will open for Sir Elton at the 9200-capacity Falkirk Stadium on June 10.
