The BRIT Awards finished on a high note this evening, February 21, with iconic Brit-pop stars Blur closing the event with a medley-style performance of their best-loved hits. 

The lads, who were today confirmed to headline the 2012 Olympics' Closing Ceremony concert, also collected the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize and thanked their families, record label and team for their continued success. 

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran had a fantastic night at the BRITs and collected 2 trophies - British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act - and also treated the audience to a fantastic rendition of his recent single, 'Lego House'. 

American rockers Foo Fighters won the Best International Group category, beating Lady Antebellum, Jay-Z and Kanye West, and Maroon 5. Although they weren't present at London's O2 Arena to collect the gong, Taylor Hawkins sent over a video message to thank their followers and the music industry alike for the accolade. 

Rising star Lana Del Rey picked up the coveted International Breakthrough Act title and in her emotionally-fuelled speech she told the audience that without the support of her UK fans she would "be lost". 

Finally, Adele won her second prize of the evening and was awarded the Mastercard British Album of the Year prize for her stunning record '21' before being rushed off stage so that Blur could begin their live set.
