The Wanted discuss US album release plans

The Wanted have revealed that they are writing with One Republic's Ryan Tedder for a US album release.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Jay McGuiness said they have recorded new material with Tedder as they form a release strategy in America.

He added that whilst the focus is on singles at the moment, there may be some new material thrown in for a US album release. He said:

"We've recorded some new songs with Ryan Tedder, which sound great - we all got on very well! We're going to keep focusing on releasing singles for now, but my guess would be we'll take some songs from the first album, some from the second and add some new ones in too, just so everyone is on the same page."

McGuiness also spoke about One Direction - who are experiencing success in the States too - and reiterated that there is no rivalry between the two camps. He said:

"We're really, really happy for them. They're nothing like us so there is no rivalry! They own that whole Bieber-style mania, and they all look perfect - we could never do that. We both have our place, and you can't help but wish guys that you genuinely like all the best."
