Politician John Prescott throws his weight behind Smiths reunion talk

Politician John Prescott has lent his support to a mooted reunion of classic indie band The Smiths.

Guitarist Johnny Marr said at the NME Awards earlier this week (February 29) that he would be up for reforming the band if the UK's current Conservative led coalition government stepped down. He said:

"If this government stepped down, I'll reform the band. How's that? That's a fair trade, isn't it? I think the country would be better off, don't you?"

And former Labour Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott joined in on the debate this afternoon (March 2), tweeting the guitarist his support. He said:

"Hello Johnny. Just to say we'll work really hard on that reunion! #pleasepleaseletmegetwhatiwant."
