Jessie J credits fans for keeping her alive

Jessie J has credited her fans for her overwhelming success and for keeping her alive.

The 23-year-old, who returned to the stage in Melbourne on Wednesday after being forced to cancel two shows on her scheduled Australian tour due to vocal exhaustion, told People magazine that she feels a strong connection with her fan base:

"I call [fans] heartbeats. Heartbeats keep you alive, and I wouldn't be here as a musician without my fans."

The ‘Price Tag’ hit-maker also professed her love for Lady Gaga in the interview, adding: "Gaga's amazing. There are only so many people who can arrive at an awards ceremony in an egg [like she did at the 2011 Grammy Awards]. I couldn't pull that off. But for me, it's about the vocals."

Later referring to Justin Timberlake’s claims that she is ‘the best singer in the world,’ Jessie appeared to take the compliment in her stride:

“[Justin] said that about [me] a year ago. So there is probably someone better now! To me the best singer in the world is [gospel vocalist] Kim Burrell.”

After finshing her tour Down Under, the chart-topping star is set to play dates in Malaysia and Indonesia before heading back to the UK at the end of the month to resume her judging role on The Voice.
