The Killers have admitted that they’ve had to learn how to be a band again following their two year hiatus.

The Las Vegas quartet are currently recording their fourth studio album, but after a lengthy break, during which three of its members pursued various side-projects, bassist Mark Stoermer told the NME that the band have had to adjust to being back together: 

''We started doing it in pieces last May, but it's taken time to figure out what it means to be in a band again, cos we took so much time off.

''It might be out before summer, but there's no guarantees.''

Stoermer also revealed that they’ve been in the studio with Steve Lillywhite (U2) and Damian Taylor (The Prodigy), alongside Brendan O’Brien, who produced Brandon Flowers’ 'Flamingo,' and promised fans the follow-up to 2008’s 'Day & Age' will feature a more rock-oriented sound:

''It's the first time we haven't worked with one producer from the beginning, and we bounced around a bit. It's more rock, but we're trying something we haven't done before. It'll still sound like us.''
