Adam Lambert says Queen gigs will be a "learning experience"

Adam Lambert has admitted that his upcoming gigs with Queen this summer will be a "learning experience".

Speaking to John Mayer on KC 101.3, the singing sensation opened up on his two shows with classic rockers Queen scheduled for the summer.

He is due to head to Moscow in late June before headlining the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth in July. Speaking about the gigs, Lambert said:

"I'm really excited. I think it's going to be a learning experience too, to be up on stage with Brian May and Roger Taylor and just get to sing the most amazing rock music, pay my respects and honour to Freddie Mercury and just try to do his memory proud, and make the guys proud."

He also spoke of his initial surprise at teaming up with the Queen guys - stating that he was pinching himself as he joined up with them on a private jet before their performance at the 2011 MTV EMAs. He said:

"When I did the MTV European Music Awards with them, we flew on a jet from London to Scotland and I was pinching myself the entire time. I was like, 'This is so surreal, this is so weird'. It's the kind of thing you dream about, like just riding a little private jet having tea with Queen. It was totally bizarre. I got on the ground and I was texting my dad, I was like 'Dad, dad, this is so weird'. It was like my Spinal Tap moment."
