Adam Levine defends fragrance release

Adam Levine has defended the release of his own fragrance.

The Maroon 5 singer announced recently that he was set to be the next celebrity to bring out his own scent, which is set to be called 222.

However, the singer was criticised by fellow The Voice USA coach Christina Aguilera for hypocrisy after he apparently attacked celebrity fragrances in the past.

Levine told People however that he is looking to do this "properly" and it is "going to be cool". He said:

"I know there's a stigma attached to it, a stigma that I fully understand because I, too, hate the idea of a celebrity fragrance, absolutely, 100 per cent. (But) I kind of thought to myself, 'Well, I'm interested in fashion and there's a lot of things about it that could be really cool if done properly.' So I want to do a thing that's never done properly. That's my goal...It's going to be cool."
