Sigur Ros describe new album as 'like an avalanche in slow motion'

Sigur Ros have teased details of their new album, describing it as ‘like an avalanche in slow motion.’

The Icelandic quartet, who release sixth studio effort, 'Valtari,' on 28 May, also told Q magazine that their first record in four years will contain seven tracks including ‘Varúð,’ ‘Rembihnútur,’ and ‘Dauðalogn,’ but won't feature any English-language lyrics.

Talking about the record, bassist Georg Holm said: “It’s not like anything else we’ve ever done. You could say our past records have been uplifting, or depressing, but this I’d compare to looking at an old landscape painting.”

Front-man Jonsi, who recorded solo album, ‘Go,’ and the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe film, ‘We Bought A Zoo,’ during the band’s hiatus, then went onto compare ‘Valtari’ to ‘an avalanche in slow motion,’ before adding:

“There’s more electronic stuff than before. But don’t worry, we haven’t made a dance record.”
