The Wanted claim boyband invasion of US is good for British music

The Wanted have claimed that both their success and One Direction’s achievements in the US can only be good for British music.

The UK boyband, currently at number three in the US Hot 100 with ‘Glad You Came,’ told Billboard.com that the reception they’ve received in the States can only have a positive effect on the music industry back home.

Tom Parker said: "The boom that's happening at the moment, everyone's calling the British Invasion. We're happy to be a part of it (with) One Direction. It's good for British music."

The quintet, who are hoping to repeat One Direction’s chart-topping feat when they release their self-titled album in the US on April 24, also said they believe they offer something different from the boybands who ruled the charts while they were growing up:

"Back in the '90s, there was a certain type of boy band. There were dancing boy bands back then, ‘N Sync…Take That. Obviously, we're much better dancers than any of them.”

But the group admitted that they never expected to make such an impact on the American market: "It's an absolute honour. People dream and stuff like that and we never thought we'd get the opportunity to even come over here and have a chance to let people hear our music and thankfully they like it."
