Cher Lloyd is hoping to become the next British act to make it big in America.

One Direction are stealing the headlines across the pond at the moment, with the former X Factor contestants becoming the first British band to see their debut album hit No.1.

Fellow popsters The Wanted meanwhile are also making a splash - and speaking to The Sun, Cher Lloyd said that she is heading off to America soon to "smash open some doors".

Speaking after a recent London tour date, Lloyd said:

"I was nervous as the London date of any tour is always special, but I had a fantastic time. I have a few days off after the tour finishes then I'm off to smash open some doors in the US. I've worked hard in the UK and I'm gonna work hard in America. I feel so lucky to have LA Reid supporting me."

Lloyd has already made her live debut in the US, playing a number of shows in March at the SXSW showcase festival in Texas.
