Noel Gallagher reveals appreciation of US audiences

Noel Gallagher has revealed his appreciation of audiences in the US after describing his gigs in the States as ‘challenging’ but ‘rewarding.’

The former Oasis guitarist, who was questioned over a stash of sleeping pills following this weekend’s performance at the Coachella Festival, told Examiner.com that there’s a huge difference between crowds in the UK and those across the Atlantic.

He said:  I have to say, I find it incredibly satisfying as a performer in America because in England, it’s just f***in’ crazy. You can get up on the stage and literally be playing a f***in’ banjo, playing blue grass and people wouldn't know. Because they’re too busy going f***in’ berserk and that’s great. There’s so much energy in the crowd in England it’s unbelievable.”

The 44-year-old, who recently admitted he finds live shows far more relaxing as a solo artist, went onto declare his admiration for how much more attentive US audiences are, adding:

“But in America, the audiences are much more prepared to listen and they want you to be f***in’ good. And they don’t give a s**t about your haircut or any of the other s**t. They paid their money and they want a f***in’ show, do you know what I mean?

“That’s incredibly challenging and it’s great as well. They want you to connect with them somehow, musically and verbally and I find that incredibly rewarding.”
