Queen to return to American Idol but without Adam Lambert

Queen are set to return to the American Idol stage next week but without their temporary frontman Adam Lambert.

The British rock legends, who performed with the 2009 runner-up and winner Kris Allen on the Season 8 finale, will once again appear on the hit US talent show alongside the remaining six finalists on Apr 25, according to Yahoo!

However, new recruit Lambert, who is schedule to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on the Thursday, will be unable to fulfil the Freddie Mercury role he'll be taking on at several European gigs this summer.

Queen's official tribute band, Queen Extravaganza, are set to continue the theme on the Thursday night results show, while USA Today reports that Katy Perry will also be performing her current single, 'Part Of Me,' on the same night.
