Nicki Minaj embracing pop star label

Nicki Minaj has seemingly embraced the pop star label, suggesting that pop stars can still make "amazing" music.

The singer had previously rounded on a journalist for calling her new album 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' "pop" without actually hearing it.

Minaj replied to the writer by stating that the album is a mixed bag of styles - but speaking to NME, Minaj said that whilst she is often called a pop star as a "diss", she doesn't always see it that way. She said:

"Oh God... I've heard so many things about myself that I don't know who I am anymore. World's biggest pop star? People call me 'pop star' as a diss. But pop stars shouldn't be disrespected because they make amazing music."
