Beyoncé wins journalism award

'Halo' superstar Beyoncé has been awarded a prize for an article she wrote last year detailing her experiences of taking a break from the spotlight.

Back in 2011, the songstress penned a piece entitled 'Eat, Play, Love' - a play on the title of a popular novel called 'Eat, Pray, Love', which was made into a film starring Julia Roberts - for Essence magazine and it focused on the 9-month hiatus she took from her career.

The New York Association of Black Journalists enjoyed Beyoncé's writing so much that they will present her with an award at a ceremony in Manhattan on May 15.

Earlier this week, her fitness trainer Marco Borges revealed her post-pregnancy workout routine to Us Weekly and explained that she put in five days per week of hard training:

"We do cardio and plyometric moves likes lunges and jumps on and off a bench. You don't have to eat only celery sticks. Be sensible and exercise constantly."
