Rolling Stones rocker Sir Mick Jagger has been confirmed to host the season finale of America's iconic weekend show, Saturday Night Live.

The star, who has previously appeared on SNL as a musical guest, will step into the lead role on May 19 and is expected to participate in skits with the programme's cast and may even perform live.

His appearance will also coincide with the 50th anniversary of his band, the Rolling Stones.

Other guest scheduled for this month's SNL episodes include Bajan beauty Rihanna and 'Climax' sensation Usher, who will perform on May 5 and May 12 respectively.

It's been a busy year for Jagger as he's been working with his supergroup SuperHeavy and teamed up with Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.Am for a collaboration on 'T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)'.
