Bruno Mars jokes that new album might not be released until 2023

Singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is hard at work on the follow up album to his smash hit debut 'Doo Wops and Hooligans', but is taking his time with the process.

The 'Grenade' sensation took to social networking site Twitter earlier today (May 8) and explained to his 9 million followers that while progress is being made he might not finish the record for another 11 years:

"I want you hooligans to know I'm locking myself in the studio until this album is done!! I love y'all so much!" He then joked: "With that being said i'll see you guys in 2023."

Late last month, Mars revealed that he's been watching MC Hammer videos in the studio for inspiration and added: "My next album is gonna be 2 legit 2 quit!"
