Adam Lambert tops chart and makes history in the USA with 'Trespassing'

Vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert has shot to the top of the U.S. albums chart with his second album 'Trespassing' and has made history in the process.

The dreaded sophomore slump is something Lambert won't have to contend with as he is is currently leading the chart with his new record, and this impressive feat has made him the first openly gay recording artist to have an album debut at No.1 in America.

Last week, Billboard.com reported that the 'Better Than I Know Myself' superstar was on course to be No.1 and although the official positions are yet to be confirmed on the site, hitsdailydouble.com posted this week's sales figures and proved that Lambert is leading the pack.

He also topped America's iTunes albums chart last week, beating Tenacious D, the 'Glee' cast and John Mayer to the coveted No.1 spot.

'Trespassing' will be released in the UK on July 2.
