Twitter goes wild after news breaks of Niall Horan and Demi Lovato Skype session

Twitter has been raging with talk of pop romance after news broke that One Direction's Niall Horan and Demi Lovato spoke to each other on Skype.

'Niall & Demi' became a worldwide trending topic today (June 6) after Lovato's backing singer Shari Short tweeted that she spoke to Horan on Skype via X Factor USA judge Lovato.

She ended the tweet by asking whether or not Horan will be attending some of Lovato's shows this summer.

Horan however has been playing hard to get and has yet to respond to the invitation. Short's original tweet meanwhile reads:

"@NiallOfficial it was nice to meet you over Skype with @ddlovato are you going to come to one of our shows in the US this Summer?"

Responding to a fan about the drama her message caused, Short later tweeted: "Omg! I didn't think that it was going to be a big deal. ;) yikes!"

Short however then played down any notion of romance, tweeting: "Skype was weeks ago! Omg! Friends."
