One Direction have been offered career advice from 80s icons Duran Duran.

The veteran Brits know all about becoming a successful pop act and have given some wise advice to One Direction as they continue their own quest for global domination.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Duran Duran said the One Direction lads need to just "stick with it" to maintain their success in America. Speaking about the US, Roger Taylor said:

"Stick with it I think. The great thing about America is that once they get you they really get you."

Simon Le Bon meanwhile said that the band should start taking "responsibility" for their own material. He said:

"I think that with any band that comes out of something like The X Factor, or any of those shows on TV, it's very important for those acts not to just be putty in the hands of the producers. If you're going to have any future you've got to take responsibility for your material."
