Gary Barlow awarded OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours List

Gary Barlow has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

The Take That star, who organised the recent Diamond Jubilee concert and co-wrote the official Jubilee anthem, 'Sing,' revealed in a press statement that he was overjoyed at receiving the recognition:

"I'm absolutely thrilled and feel very privileged to be in the company of so many brilliant people who I know have received an OBE.

"Growing up I never dreamt that one day I'd be getting one myself.

"I enjoy every minute of the work I do, with a lot of it being a reward in itself, so for somebody to decide I should get recognised for that is just amazing. My family are very proud."

Choirmaster Gareth Malone, who worked on the current number one single with Barlow, was also awarded the same honour, actor/director Kenneth Branagh was knighted whilst Kate Winslet was given a CBE.
