Demi Lovato happy to have made mistakes in life

Demi Lovato says she is happy to have made some mistakes in life because she believes they help you grow as a person.

Lovato has endured some well publicised personal problems in recent years but she is back active again as a judge on X Factor USA.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the singer admitted that mistakes should be welcomed because it helps you avoid them in later life. She said:

"We need to make mistakes in order to avoid them in the future. I made a lot of mistakes and I've grown into a better person because of it. I'm now taking better care of myself. I don't let my schedule determine who I am. I don't fly around the world constantly. I don't work 24/7."

Lovato however stressed the need to bond with the right crowd, admitting that some people can "lead you down the wrong path". She added:

"You need to be careful of who you hang out with, people you listen to. They can lead you down the wrong path, they can give you the wrong kind of direction. Try to stay away from the temptation."
