Chris Brown: 'I was meant to collaborate with Michael Jackson'

'Forever' hitmaker Chris Brown has revealed that he was aiming to lock in a collaboration with the King of Pop after meeting him back in 2006.

Speaking to Fuse, the R&B sensation explained that he performed a dance tribute to Michael Jackson at the World Music Awards in London six years ago and was especially excited that night because he got to meet the superstar in person:

"My favourite performance would have to be one. It was the World Music Awards, I was 17. My first time ever performing in London ever in front of a big London crowd and I did a tribute for Michael Jackson for 'Thriller'. He was there. That was the first night I met him."

When asked if there was ever a conversation about a potential collaboration or live duet, Brown admitted it was talked about but unfortunately never happened:

"That was my expectation, that was my goal, you know? Me and him had talked countless times and through our people – you know how politics works. We were working on records and we were working on some stuff that we were trying to do but being the situation – god has other plans."

Referring to the frequent comparisons that are made between himself and Jackson, Brown added: "I want to make him proud and I don't want to make it an effort to copy because I hate clones so I don't want to be a clone."
