The heartthrobs of boyband One Direction have spent a lot of time in the USA this year, but have promised their UK fans that they will be announcing details of a special competition for them soon.

In a post sent to their official Twitter account earlier this afternoon (June 22), the 'One Thing' hitmakers explained that they are set to give one lucky Directioner an opportunity of a lifetime and will reveal more details later today:

"UK Directioners, Look out for details online today on how to win a special chance to meet the band! 1DHQ x"

The lads also went to watch Katy Perry's new 3D concert movie 'Part Of Me' yesterday and shared a photograph (above left) of members Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson stood next to a cardboard cut-out of the pop sensation, which Tomlinson couldn't keep his hands off of.

Meanwhile, Payne took to his Twitter page this morning and told his fans outside of the recording studio that if they could "stay calm" the group might "say hello" in person:

"If you guys promise to stay calm and stay back and let us come to you maybe tomorrow we can say hello would be nice :)."
