Spice Girls reunite to unveil musical

The five original members of Spice Girls have reunited for the day as they unveiled a musical based around the 90s pop group.

The quintet appeared together today (June 26) at the London hotel where their 'Wannabe' video was recorded to launch Viva Forever!, which is written by Jennifer Saunders and created by Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer.

Viva Forever! will see the "story of a beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today's TV celebrity culture."

Speaking about the musical and the Spice Girls, Craymer said:

"The positivity, energy, humour, excitement and friendships that encapsulated the Spice Girls and their songs have inspired the whole creative team."

The BBC reports that Viva Forever! will open officially at London's Piccadilly Theatre on December 11, with previews running from November 27.
