One Direction look set to return to their reality TV show roots by featuring on the next series of the Australian X Factor.

A promotional video has been issued by the programme suggesting that One Direction will have a part to play on the show.

The video sees a number of clips of One Direction spliced together, before proclaiming:

"And here comes the next big announcement...One Direction joins Australia's X Factor to find Australia's next superstar or supergroup."

The video also says: "This year X Factor is different."

Giving the show a UK and Ireland twist, the Australian version of X Factor features Spice Girls' Mel B and Ronan Keating as judges.
