Cheryl Cole likes to listen to crying whales before hitting the stage

Cheryl Cole has revealed her pre-gig listening habits - the sound of whales crying.

Musicians will often turn up the music backstage before hitting the stage in an effort to get pumped up, but it seems the 'Call My Name' singer is a little bit different.

The Mirror quotes the singer as saying that unlike Girls Aloud buddy, Sarah Harding, Cole prefers to listen to "spa music" backstage. She said:

"Some of the Girls Aloud girls, like Sarah Harding, go bananas before a show with dance tracks. I prefer spa music like whales crying and a nice lit candle. I like peace and quiet."

The Geordie also opened up on what first grabs her attention when it comes to men, with good shoes being an absolute must. She said:

"When I meet a guy I check out his smile, his eyes and then his shoes. They are a real deal-breaker."
