A family member of Usher has revealed that he's "standing strong" following the tragic death of his stepson Kile Glover.

11-year-old Glover was confirmed brain dead after he was struck by a jet ski and his family made the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life-support machine two weeks later.

The 'Climax' superstar's godfather Ben Vereen told the Huffington Post that he is coping as best he can after this month's tragic events: "I'm proud of [him] because he's standing strong."

"It's a terrible thing when a parent has to bury their child. No parent should ever have to bury his or her child. So please continue your prayers for him and [his] family for strength and healing."
