Nick Jonas has confirmed that he’s in the running to become a judge on the next series of American Idol.

The former Disney star, who has been linked with the vacant position since Steven Tyler’s departure, took to Twitter last night to let his 4.6 million followers know about his possible new role.

He said: “The rumors are true... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol"

The 19-year-old, who is currently working on new material with his brothers Kevin and Joe, encouraged his fans to express their support for his bid to join Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson on the famous panel.
