Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil in coma after "feared drugs and alcohol binge"
Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil is said to be fighting for his life in hospital after a reported drugs and alcohol binge.
30-year-old Fielder-Civil married the late singer in 2007 in Florida before their divorce was ultimately granted in 2009.
Speaking to The Sun, Fielder-Civil's partner Sarah Aspin, who has a 15-month-old son with her boyfriend, has confirmed that he is in a coma and added that she's preparing herself for him not to wake up. She said:
"The doctors say they don't know the prognosis. They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection. I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up."
Aspin stated that Fielder-Civil came home "slurring his words" before she found him "grey" with rolled back eyes in the morning. She said:
"We'd been so happy last Thursday morning and talked about getting married. Blake had a 1pm appointment with the probation service in Morley and said he might be late as he was meeting a friend. He's never really been a drinker, but when he got home with this friend, he was slurring his words and staggering - I thought he was on something. I was very angry because he'd been doing so well."
She added: "I had to get his shoes and trousers off to help him into bed. Next morning I went to get up and heard a horrid scratching and grating breathing sound. I looked round and saw Blake lying there completely grey. His eyes were rolled back and his mouth was locked together."
Aspin added that paramedics at the scene told her that he had "swallowed his tongue and choked on his vomit."
