Carly Rae Jepsen says her songs help her to be "a braver version" of herself

'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed that the lyrics in her music inspire her to be more confident and come out of herself socially.

Speaking to MTV News earlier today, the Canadian songstress explained that her smash hit single is a great example because she doesn't usually have the confidence to approach guys, but through writing about it she gave herself hope:

"Well I think in truth I've never actually been brave enough to go and approach a guy in that way. But I kind of like to live vicariously through my music and be a braver version of myself in songs."

"And not only that, it's really, that kind of flirtatious nature, I think, is easy to kind of tap into and that imagination, it's easy to go there."

Earlier this week, she confirmed that her upcoming album is due to be released on September 18 and will be named 'Kiss'.
