Lady Gaga comes under fire from fans after fur criticism response

Lady Gaga has come under fire from her fans after she responded to criticism levelled at her by animal rights organisation PETA.

As previously reported, the singer was lambasted by PETA Vice President Dan Matthews after appearing to wear a fur coat in a photograph.

It came after the 'Born This Way' singer said in an interview that she "hates" fur and doesn't wear it.

Gaga took to her social networking website Little Monsters to comment on the furore - although she didn't exactly clear anything up. She said:

"For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real, please don't forget to credit the designer Hermes. Thank You! Love, gaga."

Fans, unsure whether or not their idol was joking, then criticised Gaga for allegedly supporting the use of fur as clothes.

The singer later posted a photo of herself holding a dog, along with the caption:

"The only real elegance is in the mind; if you've got that, the rest really comes from it." -Diana Vreeland."
