Conor Maynard plots The Voice judging role

Conor Maynard has spoken out in praise of TV talent show The Voice and confirmed that he would like to be a judge on it in the future.

The UK version of The Voice launched earlier this year on the BBC but failed to make the impact it had hoped for.

The show's live tour was pulled after poor ticket sales and there has been speculation that some of its coaches might jump ship.

Rising star Conor Maynard told the Daily Star however that The Voice benefits from having purely musicians as its judges, unlike the X Factor. He said:

"The Voice was good because it was musicians judging it. With previous pop shows, you’d always hear fans moan: 'They're not musicians, so how can they judge it?'. But on The Voice, the judges know what the people auditioning are going through."

Maynard continued: "It looks like a fun thing to do, so it's part of the plan to eventually try that sort of thing. I wouldn't be deliberately brutal as a judge but I'd certainly be honest."
