One Direction to host special MTV VMAs 'best bits' show

The UK's very own One Direction are set to host an exciting pre-awards ceremony programme in the run up to the MTV VMAs.

'One Direction: My First Time' will air in the USA on Thursday, August 30 at 11/10c and it will see the 'One Thing' heartthrobs taking a look back at the most memorable moments and performances from past years of the Video Music Awards.

The lads can also be heard discussing their feelings on performing at the event themselves, along with what they thought of such jaw-dropping clips as the kiss between Britney Spears, Madonna, and Christina Aguilera.

In addition to this, One Direction are nominated in the Best New Artist and Best Pop Video categories and will take the stage at the upcoming event for a live set on September 6.

Earlier today (August 24), the boyband's brand new single was named the fastest-selling pre-order in the history of downloads. 'Live While We're Young', which was announced as their new cut yesterday, is due to be released on September 30.

They also confirmed via their official Twitter page that the video for 'Live While We're Young' is already being shot with a director who member Niall Horan described as a "legend".
